Thank You for 50 Years!

Dear Friends;

As we draw the curtain on Kaleidoscope Theatre for Young People's 50th Anniversary Season, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for the remarkable journey we've undertaken together. This milestone season has been nothing short of extraordinary, and it is thanks to the unwavering support of our community, artists, staff, and audiences that we have reached this celebratory moment.

Our season opened with the enchanting production of The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. This beloved classic captivated hearts and imaginations, performing to sold-out audiences and achieving an extension for the first time in 20 years. The magical world of Narnia was brought to life with heartfelt performances and whimsical storytelling, reminding us all of the timeless power and the magic of live theatre.

Next, we brought to life The AlliHippoRhinoCrocodilligator, a beautiful reimagining of our cherished 1976 production. This unique and imaginative piece, filled with catchy tunes and high energy performances, paid homage to our rich history while delighting new generations with its charm and creativity. It was a true testament to our commitment to innovation and honouring our past.

We concluded our season with Tomson Highway’s The Incredible Adventures of Mary Jane Mosquito, a poignant and uplifting story that resonated deeply with audiences of all ages. With its powerful themes of belonging and resilience, this production highlighted our dedication to showcasing diverse voices and stories. It was a true honour to bring such a meaningful and inspiring work to our stage, while returning to our roots touring outside of the Capital Region!

As we reflect on this landmark season, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the 100+ artists and staff who have worked tirelessly to bring these wonderful productions to life. Your dedication, passion, and talent have made this season unforgettable.

Kaleidoscope Theatre for Young People began its journey in 1974, founded by the visionary Barbara McLaughlin and the talented Paul Liittich. Their passion for theatre and dedication to enriching the lives of young people through the arts laid the foundation for what Kaleidoscope has become today. Their legacy lives on in every performance and in the hearts of the countless individuals who have been touched by their work.

To our audience, thank you for your continued support and for sharing in the joy and wonder of theatre with us. Your presence and enthusiasm have been a vital part of our 50-year legacy. Your unwavering support has allowed us to continue creating, imagining, and inspiring.

As we mark this significant milestone, I invite you to consider making a charitable donation today. Your contribution, regardless of its size, will have a meaningful impact, enabling us to continue inspiring and enriching the lives of young audiences through the enchanting world of theatre.
