Kaleidoscope’s Performing Arts Studio is the leader in theatre arts programming for youth in our city.
We offer weekly programs for young people ages 3-17, as well as Intensives for students who are ready to make a bigger commitment to their performing arts education. The curriculum - from foundations to advanced - is focused on process, and provides opportunities for collaborative and independent development.

A dynamic creative play based program for kids and parents!
It’s never too early to introduce kids to the magical world of theatre! Mini Adventures is a dynamic creative play based program where a parent, guardian or caregiver participates alongside the kids in their life. This energetic class will delight young ones and adults alike with playful songs, movement explorations and stories designed specifically for the youngest theatre lovers. This program is a perfect way for adults to join in on the fun and explore the wonderful world of theatre with their young artists. Limit of 1 adult per child in the classroom.

Dynamic Drama is a fun and encouraging introduction to theatre and acting. Sing, dance, and act your way through this introduction to the wonderful world of Musical Theatre! This class will focus on learning ensemble musical numbers and building confidence in performance skills so students can boldly step into their spotlight!

In our Junior Musical Theatre program, students will continue to develop fundamental skills in singing, acting, dancing, and storytelling through song while working as an ensemble with more complex musical theatre pieces. This class introduces students to text work and more challenging choreography to encourage young artists to refine their performance skills.The repertoire is selected from Broadway musicals to challenge the students and showcase their skills.

An introductory training in acting with focus on creating an engaging and dynamic character for the stage.
The Junior Acting program provides an introductory training in acting and focuses on creating an engaging and dynamic character for the stage. Students will use improvisation, engaging games, and ensemble storytelling to explore physicality, character development, and ensemble building. This program introduces students to the fundamentals of script work with a variety of short scenes and scripts that will allow students to bring their new skills to the stage.

Explore the world of Musical Theatre through acting, singing, and dance!
In this intermediate class students will explore a variety of musical theatre pieces as an ensemble, in small groups, as well as individually with an introduction to solo work. Intermediate students will continue to develop their skills with a variety of exciting and challenging musical theatre repertoire. This class focuses on combining acting, singing, and dancing disciplines as well introducing a character’s motivation to move from speaking to singing.

In this intermediate acting class students will continue to refine their acting skills in voice, movement, and character development through engaging theatre games, exercises, and script work. This program encourages students to build on the basics of text work and challenges them to explore a variety of short scenes and scripts. Young actors will have the opportunity to apply their developing acting skills to creating dynamic characters in a supportive ensemble environment.

This introductory improvisation class is designed to enhance a performer’s range, imagination, and physical and vocal choices. In this program, students will develop improvisational skills and techniques that focus on developing creativity, listening, learning to trust oneself and one’s partner, and working as an ensemble. Exploring improvisation is also an excellent way for young performers to face performance anxiety and build confidence in themselves on stage in a fun, creative and supportive environment.

Teen Musical Theatre class challenges students to tie all of their skills in acting, singing and dancing together.
Building upon the framework set in our Junior and Intermediate musical theatre programs, the Teen Musical Theatre class challenges students to tie all of their skills in acting, singing and dancing together. This class explores dynamic characters in ensemble numbers, small group numbers, and solo work. Students will learn about characterization, vocal styles, and audition techniques. Repertoire for this class is chosen from a variety of musical theatre styles to help students expand their repertoire and gain new skills.

Explore different styles of acting and a variety of challenging texts, from classical to contemporary plays.
The Teen Acting Program provides students the opportunity to explore different styles of acting and a variety of more challenging texts, from classical to contemporary plays. Actors will continue to develop and refine their acting technique with a focus on physicalization, voice work, and character development. In addition to engaging theatre games, improvisation and more advanced acting exercises, this class will also explore audition technique. Students will apply their acting skills to an assortment of small group scenes, ensemble work, and monologues.

Pacific Opera Victoria and Kaleidoscope Theatre for Young People invite you to join us for an exciting performance creation camp that explores the world of opera, music, and movement. You will work with a team of professional artists to create your very own original theatrical piece inspired by a story. This camp is bursting with ways to express your creativity through singing, storytelling, acting and dancing as well as hands-on activities to help bring the show to life. The week will culminate in a sharing performance of your creation for family and friends.
