VICTORIA, BC - (April 27, 2021) - Between April 30th and May 7th, Kaleidoscope Theatre for Young People is hosting a family focused silent auction in support of Victoria’s theatre artist community. This special fundraising event will be presented through an online platform and features fabulous items from Vancouver Island businesses.
Actors, designers and other artists who work on contract have been among the hardest hit in the Canadian economy. While Kaleidoscope Theatre for Young People is weathering the COVID storm bravely, their main stage season for young audiences featuring the work of these talented artists is on hold.
Young people are Kaleidoscope’s passion, and the support from the community will assist them in removing barriers to create opportunities that ensure Vancouver Island’s young people have access to affordable theatre experiences and programs during and after this pandemic. Live theatre encourages young people to develop critical and creative thinking. It fosters imagination, and a love for the arts – something that will stick with a child for a very long time.
Kaleidoscope hopes to raise a much needed $10,000.00 through silent auction bids and donations during the virtual auction. Donors and Supporters can pre-register and view items at kaleidoscope.bc.ca/familyauction leading up to the start of bidding on April 30.
Kaleidoscope Theatre for Young People is Vancouver Island’s resident professional theatre company for young people and families. Established in 1974, Kaleidoscope has a mission to create original, innovative and relevant theatre experiences that stimulate and inspire young people to think critically about the world around them. Under the leadership of Pat Rundell, Kaleidoscope presents a full season of plays for young audiences and operates a full-service theatre school offering extra-curricular classes in musical theatre, acting, and voice.
