We’re so excited to invite our students’ families and friends to this term’s Winter Showcase sharings, and this year, we’re heading back to the theatre!
All term, our young artists have been warming up their voices, building characters, tackling scenes, learning choreography and taking brave creative risks. Now it’s their turn to share that work with the people who matter most: you!

Good to know
A Showcase is not a play or a full theatre production. It’s a casual, informal sharing of the skills students have been building in class, a backstage pass into their weekly work.
In the professional world, this is called an actor’s showcase: a way for artists to share where they are in their skill development at a moment in time. That’s why our sharings don’t include sets, costumes or full production elements. The spotlight is on the performers, and the skills, exercises, scenes, songs and techniques they’ve been working on all term.
Every student is at a different place in their journey. Some are just finding their voice, some are learning to feel at home in the spotlight, and some are singing a solo for the very first time. Stepping out of your comfort zone takes real courage, and we celebrate every one of them.
Just like previous years when Showcases took place in our studios, seating is extremely limited. The Intrepid Studio is an intimate theatre with limited seating, so each student may bring 2 guests (this includes babes in arms). If space allows, extra seats are offered first-come, first-served from a waitlist taken at the door before each sharing.
No need to reserve. Just give the name of the student you’re there to support when you arrive, and our staff will check you in.
Yes! You’re welcome to photograph and film your child’s sharing for personal use and enjoyment. Because we work with young people, please don’t post photos or videos of other students on social media. Kaleidoscope will not be recording or live-streaming the Showcases.
Students should wear basic “industry black”: black pants and a black top, or other dark, solid, neutral colours.
Why black? Wearing “blacks” is a long-standing theatre tradition and exactly what professional actors wear for a showcase or audition. Plain dark clothing acts like a blank canvas, keeping the audience’s focus on each performer’s face, voice, movement and storytelling. It also makes the group look like a true ensemble, so every student can shine.
Audience seating in the Intrepid Studio is on tiered risers, with a few steps up to the seats. If you or a guest has specific access or mobility needs, please call our office at 250.383.8124 before the Showcase and we’ll be happy to help.
We can’t wait to celebrate our amazing young artists with you!
