Since 2001, Kaleidoscope Theatre for Young People’s Young Company program has introduced hundreds of aspiring young performers  to the inner workings of a professional theatre production.

Nineteen years later, KTYP is offering a brand new version of the Kaleidoscope Young Company to provide training at the highest calibre for a dedicated group of young artists who are serious about pursuing a career in the performing arts. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic KTYP has adapted the young company program to maximize learning and growth in a safe and supportive environment while following the guidelines from BC Public Health Officer and Health Officials.

Kaleidoscope Theatre for Young People is Vancouver Island’s resident professional theatre company for young audiences, producing year-round entertainment for children and families. Through the company’s theatre school, the Kaleidoscope Performing Arts Studio, aspiring young performers train in acting, musical theatre, and voice under the guidance of working professional artists. Kaleidoscope Theatre for Young People is a member of the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT).

The Kaleidoscope Young Company is a demanding pre-professional training program. Admission to the Kaleidoscope Young Company is limited to 6 young artists and is by audition only.

Over the course of seven weeks, the Kaleidoscope Young Company will workshop the one act play Tree Boy by Michele Riml, mimicking a professional rehearsal experience, and will participate in eleven curated workshops led by industry professionals from across the Country.

In our workshop series, the Young Company Artists will get the chance to work with a wide variety of professionals through a series of workshops, including:

    • How To Nail a General Audition (Dance Call, Monologue and Song) – Josh Graetz (Toronto / Victoria) and Shea O’Connor (Victoria)
    • Tips and Tricks for the TV/Film Industry – Luc Trottier (Toronto / PEI)
    • Defying the Odds – Career Advice – David Connolly (Ontario) & Julie Tomaino (Vancouver/Toronto)
    • Playwriting – TBA
    • Vocal Hygiene & Technique – Anna Shill (Victoria)
    • National Artistic Directors/Leaders Q & A Sessions
