Kaleidoscope Welcomes Anna Shill as Education and Outreach Assistant
Anna Shill, BMus (in Opera), MMus (in Voice Performance), has a wide range of accomplishments in music and theatre, from her work as a soloist in musical theatre, oratorio and opera, to the creation, direction and management of theatrical productions and training programs for young musicians. She is an alumnus of Opera Nuova, a GVPAF Rosebowl winner and has sung across Canada and Europe.
Anna’s theatrical management career began with East Van Opera, as director and choreographer for their premiere production of Alma. She has since acted as music director and conductor for several professional productions with Victoria’s Kaleidoscope Theatre for Young People, and a variety of training programs for young performers. Anna is the continuing Secretary for East Van Opera and a core member of the creative team, working with the company’s Creative Director to write and produce new operatic works. Anna is also one of the music directors for Island Show Choir and a founding member of the Youth Mentorship Program and acts as a Mentor herself within the program for talented, young musicians in Victoria. As a teacher of voice, Anna’s growing studio comprises a wide range of talented and increasingly recognized singers. Many of her students have gone on to win competitions and study in prestigious programs. Anna is delighted to join Kaleidoscope’s Performing Arts Studio teaching Voice Teacher and Musical Theatre and is excited to be joining the administrative team as Kaleidoscope’s new Education and Outreach Assistant.
Throughout her career, Anna has felt a strong calling to give back and help provide creative learning environments for the next generation of young performers. At Kaleidoscope Anna feels she has found her kindred spirits to accomplish just that. Kaleidoscope’s vision to create a theatre family for their students and artists in combination with their dedication and passion for family theatre is something she cannot wait to uphold. Anna cannot wait to meet you during the run of The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane.
