Pippi Longstocking: The Family Musical
Interview with Tich Wilson
We sat down with Tich Wilson who plays Pippi Longstocking in Kaleidoscope’s Pippi Longstocking: The Family Musical coming to the McPherson Playhouse, December 28-30, 2018.
We asked Tich a few questions about the show, performing, and what she hopes audiences will get out of the show!
Kaleidoscope audiences will remember Tich as Wendy in PAN (2012), The Never-ending Story (2013), and as Magenta in The Rocky Horror Show (2013).
How many years have you been performing?
Almost thirty years!
What made want to be a part of Pippi Longstocking?
My soul was hungry for theatre again.
How is your character like you? How is she Different?
I feel like Pippi is an extremely heightened version of me. I love making people laugh and being silly and playful in the way that she does, but I definitely don’t have her hyperactive energy. Maybe it’s the age thing.
What do you love about playing your character?
I get to play and be silly.
What has been the biggest challenge in bringing this character to life?
The amount of sustained energy it takes.
Without giving too much away, what is your favourite moment of the show?
Giving Prissy-Pru the attitude she deserves.
If you could play any other character in the show, who would it be?
Mrs. Priss or Tommy or Annika.
Who are the funniest people in the cast?
Tommy and Annika. They make me laugh every rehearsal. Best scene partners ever.
What do you do when you are not performing on stage?
I teach middle school drama.
If you had a magic wand, what should would you do next? Who would you play?
Cabaret, and I would play the Emcee. From family friendly to not so much!
What is the last thing you do before you step out on stage at the start of a show?
What do you hope audiences get out of this production?
A good time and lots of laughs.
