Kaleidoscope’s 2017-2018 Season: Home is Where the Heart Is

Three Shows

Kaleidoscope Theatre for Young People is delighted to announce our 44th season of professional productions for young audiences. This year, we’re offering an old classic, a riotous comedy, and a delightful new collaboration, about childhood, growing up, and the nature of home.

  • We open our season by welcoming home old friends, with the return of our adaptation of The Secret Garden on November 4-5, 2017. Based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, and adapted for the stage by Kaleidoscope’s Artistic Director, Roderick Glanville, this classic story of about the healing powers of love and family connection is as relevant now as it was when first published in 1911. We’re delighted to reunite nearly the entire cast from our 2014 pop-up presentation, and to be bringing them to the McPherson stage for a fully realized production.
  • Our second production of the year takes us back to classic pantomime. This year’s production is Peter Pan, running from December 28-30, 2017. Guest director Stephen Andrew returns, after last year’s phenomenal panto production of ‘Snow White’, to present the classic tale of the boy who never grew up. With a wink to the audience and a lot of laughs for young and old, our Peter Pan panto promises a playfully peppy production of perky performances!
  • We close our season with something new and exciting, the world premiere of Kaleidoscope’s Pinocchio, running March 10th and 11th, 2018. The spirit of a little boy is trapped inside a piece of wood and born into a strange world.  On his quest to become a ‘real boy’, his journey is fraught with danger and tricksters that mislead Pinocchio on his path. Roderick Glanville will be joining with renowned Kaska/Tlingit artist Dean Heron in this new adaptation of Carlo Collodi’s famous tale.

“Youth empowerment, community engagement and family connection are at the root of this season,” says Roderick Glanville, Kaleidoscope’s Artistic Director. “In our rapidly changing world, we think these themes are more important than ever.”

It’s only $81 for an adult subscription, and $42.50 for a child subscription. You’ll get this year’s seats at last year’s prices, and you can get the best seats for all three shows.
