Canada Summer Jobs Employment Opportunities

Kaleidoscope Theatre for Young People is currently hiring three energetic young people for positions funded with support of the Government of Canada through the Canada Summer Jobs program.

Start date is negotiable. Part-time hours, instead of full-time, may be available for youth who want to work during the academic year. All placements must be completed no later than February 28, 2021.

OPPORTUNITIES:

Education Outreach Program Coordinator

  • Duration of Contract: 8 Weeks
  • Total Hours Per Week: 35
  • Compensation: $20 / Hour
  • Available Positions: 2

Role Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director and Education Coordinator, the Education Outreach Program Coordinator oversees the implementation and daily operations of Kaleidoscope Theatre for Young People’s education and outreach programs for young people, including providing instruction during camps and programs.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • daily administration and communication around classes, camps and programs
  • social media content related to KTYP’s education activities
  • working with the Education Coordinator to develop new programs and analyze current programs for the theatre’s youth performing arts studio
  • working with young people between the ages of 6-12 in a classroom setting

Qualifications

  • excellent written and oral communication skills
  • a love of the theatre and awareness of KTYP’s programming activities
  • a love of working with young people
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Performing Arts or Education background

To be eligible, all applicants must meet these criteria:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment. International Students are not eligible.
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

Criminal Record Check

  • A criminal record check must be completed prior to employment.

Hours and Compensation

The position may require a mix of daytime, evening and weekend work hours.

Compensation for this position is based on an hourly rate of $20/hour with a 35 hour work week.  This is a temporary 8-week position supported by The Government of Canada and the Canada Summer Jobs Program.

Admin Assistant

  • Duration of Contract: 8 Weeks
  • Total Hours Per Week: 30
  • Compensation: $15 / Hour
  • Available Positions: 1
  • Role Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director the Admin Assistant supports the daily operations of KTYP including supporting marketing, communications, development, and theatre programming.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • daily administration and communication around KTYP programming and activities.
  • generate social media content
  • donor relations and development

Qualifications

  • excellent written and oral communication skills
  • experience in public speaking
  • a love of the theatre and awareness of Kaleidoscope’s programming activities
  • a love of working with young people
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Performing Arts, Education, or Marketing background
